While the majority of the lessons we will be covering here are pencil (or crayon) and paper drawings or sequences, it is a really good idea to try to replicate the lessons using real-world items or other household or environmental object like buttons, beans, acorns or whatever else can help to hold their interest. It is important for the child to understand that the written and drawn exercises are just demonstrations of real-world problems and that all aspects of life present different forms of challenges, patterns and solutions. Patterns are a large component of spoken language, song, touch, smells etc. and experimenting with simple patterns using all of their senses can help to supercharge their problem solving abilities. This worksheet would also make a great printout activity for Christmas.
This worksheet is one of the free sample selections from our children’s educational book “The Forgotten Milestone“. Children Ages 4-10.
