Worksheet 1 Worksheet 2
How to Count Coins: Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, Quarters

Review Coin Values
Begin by identifying each coin and recalling its value.

  • Quarter = 25¢
  • Dime = 10¢
  • Nickel = 5¢
  • Penny = 1¢

Recognizing each coin quickly makes the counting process much smoother.

Count from Largest to Smallest
When looking at a row of coins, start with the highest‑value coins and work down.

  • Add the quarters (count by 25)
  • Then add the dimes (count by 10)
  • Then the nickels (count by 5)
  • Finish with the pennies (count by 1)

This approach keeps the total organized and prevents losing track of the amount.
